A Lancashire girl through and through and proud. Even though I left my beautiful little village in Daisy Hill, as a teenager, (Daisy Hill borders the Greater Manchester area,) I have never, and do not want to ever, forget my roots. I was fortunate as a child to have had a wonderful childhood. My parents allowed me a lot of freedom. As a kid, I would roam around in the fields and the park, which was close by, with my two favourite dogs, Blacky and Pal. My mother and father were crazy bohemians, too busy with their dancing, and Dad's band to worry about little ol' me. They allowed me a lot of freedom as a youngster, which has made me who I am today. Thank you, Mr Francis Lee and Jane Ellen Rigby. You will be remembered by me always.
My art is full of colour and diversity. I'm not a one trick pony painting 1 particular genre, I only paint what comes into my head. It could be abstract portraits, weird colourful little animals, Martian insectoids, geometric patterns or flowers from Venus.
WHO KNOWS?
The same applies to my children's books, which are full of weird little animals that enjoy fun and adventure. As a child, I would lie in the fields, sometimes falling asleep watching insects come and go through the long blades of grass, pretending they were going home to their families, or whatever. The cows in the field used to surround me, wondering what I was doing sitting in their field full of cow pat. They used to just sniff around me, then carry on chewing their cud. Those days influenced my writing, and art. NATURE!!
I tend to buy beautiful fabrics which are in need of another life, then make them into something spectacular with the help of my friend Jazz. We also salvage nearly new or even sometimes new clothes that have recently been discarded. We specifically design old denim coats which we mix with Indian fabrics and transform them into something wonderful.
